The Solomons may not be in the best location to get swells, but reports from divers and sailors have found that waves occur all over this area. Getting There
There are 2 daily flights to Gizo Airport (GZO), for $100 r/t with a Twin-Otter (board restrictions apply) on Nusa Tupe Island a 10 min boat ride to Gizo. Flying to Munda (MUA) is easier, allowing bigger boards.
Getting Around
You need good fibreglass boats, with fast outboards.

Activities
Dive Ghizo's WWII sunken military relics like the Tao Maru. Climb 1770m high Kolombangara Volcano. Visit the Megapode skull shrines and custom dances at Mbangopingo (Rendova).
Hazards & hassles
Take anti-malarial medication, but the best defence is the prevention of mosquito bites. Drink bottled water. Be ready to face long boat rides in full sun exposure. Take reef boots.
Handy Hints
Take all gear including two boards, tropical wax and sunblock. Use the sea kayaks to access the surf to nearby breaks. Local costs are relatively inexpensive. 95% of the population are Christian.
