Where to surf in Angola
After 30 years of civil war, Angola is now seeing new economic prosperity from oil and mining, but only for a small selection of the population.
In northern Angola Zaire province has a straight line of beach until the promising lefts at Lucata Point and rivermouth herald the start of Angola's left pointbreaks. N'zeto, Ambriz and Catumbo all have promising set-ups among many more potential headlands.
The surfing areas in Luanda and Bengo provinces are south of the capital and only cover a fraction of Angola’s wave wealth.
South of Cabo Ledo is an array of lefthand pointbreaks, that are often difficult to access beneath the impressive coastal cliffs, stretching down to Porto Amboim. Beyond that, the arid south beckons to the adventurous.
